Offered here are rare pieces of railroading and financial history involving key robber barons and railroad historical giants. These TWO stock certificates, one signed by General Grenville M Dodge and Jay Gould(a rare and unusual combination on this certificate type), and the second signed by twice by Jay Gould, evidence the “flipping” of a key railroad property known as The Extension Road to the Missouri Kansas and Texas Railroad (“the Katy”). Of particular note is the size and value each certificate represents. These are unusual as they are each for 18,800 shares, (0 per share) or ,880,000 per certificate. The total transaction value was almost .8 million for the two certificates as can be seen from the attached article detailing the transaction. While other Jay Gould signed certificates of the Missouri Kansas and Texas Railway are frequently offered, they rarely are for these large amounts which or have the historical significance of “flipping” railroads as these two do.
